Karen Halpern

Speech-Language Pathologist & Myofunctional Therapist

Karen Halpern brings nearly 40 years of experience helping children and families strengthen their communication, speech, and language skills. She combines her clinical expertise with creativity and play to support children in developing articulation, early language, and social communication.

Karen holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Emerson University in Boston and a Doctorate in Special Education from the University of Toronto. She has worked with organizations such as the Muki Baum Treatment Centre, The Canadian Hearing Society, and Toronto IBI, and she continues to support families through her private practice.

In addition to speech and language therapy, Karen specializes in tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties), providing both pre- and post-release therapy for newborns through adults. She also practices Myofunctional Therapy, helping clients improve muscle strength and coordination of the tongue, lips, and face to support healthy breathing, swallowing, and speech clarity.

Karen is also the founder of Thumbprint Adventures, a company designed to spark imagination and creative thinking in children through play programs and unique toys and games.

At Footprints Therapy, Karen looks forward to partnering with families to help children learn, grow, and thrive—through play.
