Ben Sluzar
Registered Massage Therapist.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Ben holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University, which uncovered his passion of exploring and learning the intricacies of the human body further. Currently, Ben is both a Registered Massage Therapist and Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (in good standing with both the OAO and CMTO). In 2020 he defended his osteopathic thesis at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto on “The Effect of Global Osteopathic Treatment on Forward Head Posture as measured by Craniovertebral Angle”.
Using a comprehensive global approach, his treatments factor in an individualized health history, and an understanding of anatomical, physiologic, and biomechanical interrelationships. Ben employs a variety of assessment and treatment techniques that allow for a holistic approach and includes education on healthy breathing and movement routines.
This approach, efficiently and effectively aims to address dysfunction at the root or cause of the issue, rather than just relieving symptoms. Some examples of the techniques used are both direct and indirect functional normalizations, myofascial release, fluidic fascial work, craniosacral therapy, muscle energy technique, visceral manipulation, strain-counterstrain among many others within the realm of osteopathy and massage therapy.
